The Story of Spacelebration

Spacelebration is a biennial celebration of the humble present and promising future of private space travel.

In the early morning of October 4, 2004, a commercial venture launched a manned vessel named SpaceShipOne from the Mojave Desert in California. The ensuing second successful flight into suborbital space in two weeks using the same spacecraft won the team the prestigious $10 million Ansari X Prize. This milestone in private space travel compelled a couple of friends to get a group together at Zilker Park to celebrate the first-ever Spacelebration.

On the fourth anniversary of the historic SpaceShipOne flight, you're invited to launch model rockets, drink Tang concoctions (virgin for the minors, spiked for the adults), play space music, and a share your love for all things cosmic at Spacelebration 3.
